Where has the time gone...............

The last two months since my last entry have flown by............... The board has arrived, the new baby is growing and the nights are drawing out.

Ive stepped up my training in preparation for the qualifying event for the Celtic Crossing on the 19th of July from Carbis Bay to Newquay.

I have started running and have extended my paddles in some of the most hideous conditions, as well as making the most of the improving weather and wind conditions.  Hopefully the headwinds and backwash coming off the cliffs when paddling between Portreath to Chapel Porth will set me in good stead for a long downwinder................

Tomorrow is looking like a good day to head off on a downwinder between Carbis Bay and Portreath, my longest paddle so far!

New addition & down days

Became a dad again (that's 4 now) on Friday to a beautiful little girl Esme.......... So happy :)

First cold in ages........... Not so happy............

Its flat, I need to be at home, its not so bad after all, Im just going with it........... Just continuing with the yoga and swiss ball core work.  It wont be long until my Bark paddleboard arrives and the real work begins.  Cant wait!!

I found this movie by Hurley online over the weekend and its keeping me sane and stoked for the next swell.

Waiting for a new board, so excited!  That feeling will never grow old...........

My 12ft Surftech Bark is gone and for the challenges ahead would not have been big enough.

It was replaced last year by a 10'6" Berg Clubby race board.  Great fun when the waves are micro and for quick sprints up and down the coast..............

Just before heading out with my daughter to Gull Rock, Portreath last summer (2014)

Prone Paddleboards over 12 ft are very rare in the UK and with the minimum board length for the Celtic Crossing being 14 ft my options are few.
Fortunately Surftech and Bark have released there popular prone model, the Commander in a 14ft model.............  and after some email and telephone tennis, 'Tids' at Phibian (phibian.org) in Exeter Devon, has sourced me one from Surf Commission (http://www.surfcom.co.uk/)..........

Ive spoken to 'Tids' now on a couple of occasions over the last week and cant wait to meet him, so enthusiastic and an individual who is keen support prone paddleboarding in the UK.

:)

Why a blog?

Its the Celtic Crossings fault...............  When I saw it advertised last year, followed its progress and
the end result, I was hooked.  I want to be part of the 2015 crossing....................
I joined the mailing list to show that I want to enter.  Information from the organisers has started to be released.  The can of worms have been opened...........

South Coast Ripples..........

Cold this morning but the suns out.  Dusted off my 9'8" Empire log, its been ages since I have ridden it.  Good choice............

Headed to the south coast and found knee high offshore spinning left and rights off opposite banks. So much fun.
It reminded me of being a grom on the north east coast, howling offshores in freezing conditions :)
